SFS chairman Jacob Färnert responds to it debate article as Fredrik Kopsch, chief economist at the think tank Timbro, wrote in Sydsvenskan that tuition fees should be introduced in higher education.
SFS believes that everyone, regardless of their parents' income, should have a fair chance to study at universities and colleges.
Tuition fees would scare away children of low-educated parents with lower incomes. Competition for education places would decrease. The student group would become more homogeneous, but also perform worse. Therefore, tuition fees would be harmful from both a justice perspective and a quality perspective.
