The system of year-round achievements is intended to create incentives for higher education institutions to support students so that they can complete their education. But that has not been the case in practice.
When the universities are allocated resources based on how many pass the courses, the risk increases that they lower the requirements to be able to approve as many students as possible. This is particularly evident for educations with a low number of applicants in relation to places, which we can see today in, for example, teacher education. Simon Edström in the magazine Publikt
