Is it reasonable to expect first-year students to have a crystal-clear plan for the future? Education is crucial for one's future prospects and it is therefore not easy to be sure from the start. Some students feel afraid of "wasting CSN", as indicated by the fact that CSN on its website advises students to save on the number of weeks by only taking half of the study funds even if they study full-time. That gap in the budget must instead be filled by, for example, part-time work, which means that the time and energy for studies are further reduced.
SFS vice-chairman Oskar M Wiik and Dolores Fors, vice-chairman of the Uppsala Student Union, write in Upsala Ny Tidning about the problem with longer education programs in relation to the lack of student finance reforms.
