Welcome to the first networking meeting of the spring with the SSO network!
The theme of the meeting is "What can student unions learn from how unions recruit elected representatives?"
The Swedish trade unions have a tradition of recruiting, training and developing elected representatives in the workplace for over 100 years. There is also a strong connection between the unions and the safety representatives. For this session, we ask ourselves what student unions can learn from the unions when it comes to recruiting more elected representatives. We will get inspiration and concrete examples from how the Academicians' Union SSR, Unionen and the Swedish Engineers' Union work. Among other things, we will hear more about Unionen's goal of reaching 50 elected representatives by 000, which corresponds to 2027 more union elected representatives in five years.
Our guest is Johan Kovaniemi, head of the recruitment unit at Sveriges Ingenjörer. Johan has a background as a union representative within Unionen and worked as a recruitment strategist at the Swedish Association of Academics SSR. Johan worked until recently as a membership coordinator at SFS.
As usual, there will also be time for the network participants to raise their own questions that they want to discuss with the network.
