Background
The transparency councils at state agencies have an important task of exercising transparency and providing advice to the head of the agency. This meets the need for democratic transparency and citizen influence.
The Transparency Council at the University Chancellor's Office (UKÄ) serves as an advisory group to the Director General. The Council is appointed by the Government and is tasked with increasing transparency in the authority's operations for both the Government and the citizens. The Transparency Council currently consists of nine members, two of whom are students. More information and the current composition can be found on UKÄ's website: Transparency Council – UKÄ.
The current transparency council's appointment expires on April 30, and the government will now appoint a new transparency council. SFS has been tasked with nominating student representatives. The government will then decide on the appointment.
We are looking for
Two student representatives to UKÄ's transparency council, one of whom is a doctoral student. The term of office is 1 May 2025 to 30 April 2028.
The Transparency Council meets 3-4 times a year physically in Stockholm. Remuneration is paid per meeting day, and UKÄ pays for any travel to and from meetings. In addition to participation in meetings, there is time for preparation in the form of reading documents before the meetings.
Applicants should have experience as a student or doctoral student representative and an interest in the issues UKÄ works on. Previous experience working with quality issues in higher education and research is an advantage.
Being a member of an advisory board is an important assignment that requires that the persons appointed have the opportunity to devote the time required for the assignment. More information about what it means to be a member of an advisory board and the fees can be found at Member of the Transparency Council - Regeringen.se.
