Linn Svärd and Oskar M Wiik will lead SFS in the 2021/2022 financial year

The Swedish National Union of Students (SFS) has today begun its general council meeting and elected new presidium who will lead SFS during the next financial year. Linn Svärd was elected Chairman and Oskar M Wiik was elected Vice Chairman.

Linn Svärd is currently the Vice Chair of SFS and has previous experience from being active in Lund's student life and as a student representative on several national assignments. During the past year, she has had a strong focus on working with students' mental health and housing issues.

It feels fantastic. Being given this trust from SFS members makes me both moved and honored. Over the past year, I have had the opportunity to help lead SFS as Vice Chairman and now taking on that role as Chairman feels absolutely right. The housing market needs to become fairer, mental ill health must decrease and student influence needs to be strengthened. I look forward to leading SFS forward in this work.

Oskar M Wiik most recently came from the role as chairman of the Stockholm Student Union Central Organization (SSCO). He has a long involvement in student political issues and has previously been chairman of Södertörn University's student union SöderS.

It feels very important and honorable to continue the incredible work that SFS has been doing for many years to strengthen students' opportunities and conditions. We need to continue striving for students to feel good and work to eliminate the national student housing shortage. We need to create real opportunities to feel good as a student. I am very happy to have received this trust and look forward to, together with our member bodies, creating a world-class knowledge nation.

Linn and Oskar will begin their assignment on July 1, when SFS's 2021/22 operating year begins. At that time, Simon Edström, SFS's current chairman, will also end his assignment.

The SFS General Council (SFSFUM) will continue until Sunday, April 25, and during the meeting, SFS will, among other things, decide on a new political focus issue for the next three years and elect a new board.
