The Swedish National Union of Students (SFS) has today begun its council meeting and elected a new one presidium who will lead SFS during the next financial year. Linn Svärd was elected Chairman and Oskar M Wiik was elected Vice Chairman.
Linn Svärd currently sits as Vice Chairman of SFS and has previous experience from having been active in Lund's student life and as a student representative on most national assignments. During the past year, she has had a strong focus on the work with students' mental health and housing issues.
It feels fantastic fun. Being awarded this trust by SFS members makes me both moved and honored. During the past year, I have had the opportunity to be involved in leading SFS as Vice Chairman and to now take that assignment further in the role of Chairman feels completely right. The housing market needs to be fairer, mental illness needs to be reduced and student influence needs to be strengthened. I look forward to leading SFS forward in this work

Oskar M Wiik most recently came from the role of chairman of Stockholm's student unions' central organization (SSCO). He has a long involvement in student policy issues and has previously been Chairman of Södertörn University's student union SöderS.
It feels very important and glorious to continue the incredible work that SFS has done for many years to strengthen students' opportunities and conditions. We need to continue to strive for students to feel good and work to eliminate the national student housing shortage. We need to create real opportunities to feel good as a student. I am very happy to have received this trust and look forward to, together with our membership, creating a world-class knowledge nation.

Linn and Oskar will begin their assignment on 1 July, when SFS's financial year 2021/22 begins. Then Simon Edström, SFS's current chairman, will also end his assignment.
The SFS Council (SFSFUM) runs until Sunday 25 April, and during the meeting the SFS will, among other things, decide on a new political focus issue for the next three years and elect a new board.
