SUHF's working group on refugee issues

Description

Based on the serious war situation in Ukraine, with both acute and far-reaching consequences for higher education and research, SUHF is immediately reintroducing a working group for refugee issues.

The sector needs a forum for exchange of experiences and to be able to jointly respond to the expected influx of refugees and to be able to provide good overall support to students and researchers/teachers who choose to come to Sweden. This work should also be seen as a contribution to the universities' long-term work with inclusion, broadened recruitment and internationalization at home.

The working group shall:

* coordinate common issues and identify the needs of higher education institutions in order to be able to handle the refugee situation wisely and effectively
* continuously update relevant information nationally and internationally,
* and propose relevant measures for the entire sector.

The working group will consult with the expert groups within SUHF for internationalization issues, study administrative issues, higher education pedagogy issues and teacher education, and will regularly report to the presidium.

The group has the right to involve additional people who are deemed necessary for the assignment. Initiatives that may involve costs must be coordinated with the presidium.

With experience from the previous refugee influx in 2015-2016, the sector today has better knowledge to be able to act to meet the needs of students and teachers/researchers in refugee situations and include them in our activities.
