SFS consultation response Security deposit for rental agreements (Ds 2023:32)

SFS supports the proposal to introduce a legally regulated system for a deposit as security for a rental agreement to be fulfilled in the case of private rental of housing.

SFS's view is that it is already relatively common for the lessor to request a deposit for private rentals and subletting. It is positive that a secure system for handling the deposit is being introduced.

EU

Contribution from the Swedish National Union of Students on Sweden's national reform program 2024

The Swedish National Union of Students (SFS) submits its contribution to Sweden's national reform program for the European semester 2024. One of the national goals is that at least 60% of all adults should participate in education each year. SFS highlights the role of student unions in developing educational quality and the educational offer to better respond to the demand for higher education.

Housing

SFS consultation response Better information on rental housing - mapping the secondary market and an improved apartment register (SOU 2023:65)

SFS is generally positive about the proposals. SFS is above all positive that, with the proposal, second-hand tenants can check whether the home is a tenancy, as tenant-owners have different rules regarding what rent can be charged (something that the investigation addresses on page 260). If information about the primary tenant is entered in the register, it will also be possible to check who can actually rent out the apartment, which reduces the risk of fraud. An estimated 50.000 students live second-hand.

However, SFS has certain objections to parts of the inquiry's proposal.
