Apply to the committee planning SFS's 100th anniversary celebration!

Common purpose for the celebration:

  • Highlighting and celebrating 100 years of national student influence in Sweden

Common goals:

  • Create an overview/memory of SFS's history since 1921 
  • Conveying successes and the importance of national student influence
  • Celebrate 100 years of national commitment
  • Recognize and celebrate the national & international impact of Sweden's student unions
  • Draw attention to the unique role of students throughout history and especially in our time as co-creators of academia, the city and society 
  • To disseminate SFS's issues in connection with the celebration.

Highlights of the celebration:

  • The anniversary committee is responsible, in consultation with the board's working group, for developing a detailed timetable for the anniversary year 2021 and a plan for an anniversary publication is being drawn up.
  • August 30, 2020: 100 years since the initiative for SFS was taken in Gothenburg
  • Autumn: Continued engagement with member bodies
  • Fall 2020/early spring 2021
  • Anniversary publication will be completed and sent to print in 2021
  • February 12–13, 2021: 100 years since the unions met in Uppsala for a "deliberation on the formation of a national organization of Swedish student unions"
  • March 18–19, 2021: 100 years since SFS was founded
  • Anniversary banquet March 19, 2021
  • Possible smaller events in connection with member meetings during the year 2021/2022
  • Report presented to the board with evaluation of process, work and celebration

The anniversary committee's mission

  • Plan how SFS 100 years will be celebrated.
  • Under the leadership of the event coordinator, be responsible for the implementation of the celebration. 
  • After the ceremony, the committee will evaluate the process and implementation and report to the board in 2021/2021. 

The work will be led by event coordinator Katharina Metsis who will have overall responsibility for work management and contact with the SFS board and office. The anniversary committee aims to support the event coordinator in the ongoing work. The number of people per area of ​​responsibility is flexible and depends on how much interest there is.

Case

There are four different areas of responsibility to apply for on the anniversary committee, in some cases it may be relevant to have several people in each position of responsibility:

Communications Manager

Be responsible for all communication, in collaboration with the communicator at the SFS office, around SFS 100 years.

  • design & marketing responsibility

Technology + premises manager

Be responsible for liaising with technicians and being responsible for all practical matters surrounding the venue, such as keeping track of escape routes, decoration, contact with catering, etc.

Guest manager

Responsibility for inviting guests, making travel and hotel reservations for them, facilitating sponsors on site.

Volunteer Manager

Overall responsibility for recruiting volunteers; communicating, recruiting and coordinating with other “departments”

Registration

When appointing the committee, diversity among the members will be taken into account. Experience from similar assignments as well as knowledge of and involvement in the Swedish National Union of Students are considered meritorious.

  • Scope of assignment: end of May/agreement 2020 – March 26, 2021
  • Workload: The assignment involves ongoing work with continuous reconciliations, and more intensive work closer to the deadline. A preliminary estimate is five hours of work in a typical week, and up to twenty hours in the week(s) around the deadline.
