In June 2021, the Swedish parliament activated the new Aliens Act. This piece of legislation imposes stricter eligibility requirements for non EU / EEA citizens wishing to obtain permanent residence. This includes new requirements on the applicants' command of the Swedish language and the length of their current contract.
In order to measure the consequences of the new Aliens Act will have on doctoral students, postdocs, and other early career researchers (ECRs) in Sweden SFS-DK,SNPA extension (Swedish National Postdoc Association) and N.J.F. (National Junior Faculty of Sweden) carries out a small survey on the perceived career paths of doctoral students and the consequences of the new aliens act. The survey can be found here
