European Council of Doctoral Candidates and Junior Researchers (Eurodoc) had a recent annual meeting and elected a new management there. The former SFS member Pil Maria Saugmann was elected there as the organization's new chairman.
SFS alumna Pil Maria Saugmann has been elected president of the European doctoral candidate organization, the European Council of Doctoral Candidates and Junior Researchers (Eurodoc). The organization brings together the European doctoral student organizations, which is why the SFS doctoral student committee also participates as members on behalf of Sweden.
As the new chairman of Eurodoc, Pil will advocate for doctoral students and junior researchers at the European level, where priority issues are improved research training and working conditions. Pil was chairman of the SFS doctoral committee 2019-2022 and also had assignments as a student representative for SFS. In 2022, Pil took a doctorate in theoretical physics at Stockholm University. For the past year, Pil has been vice chairman of EuroDoc. Her experiences from SFS and previous roles in the higher education sector give her a solid foundation to stand on in her new assignment.
- It is a great honor and a great responsibility to lead Eurodoc. I look forward to working together with my European colleagues to improve research education and strengthen the research community in Europe, says Pil Maria Saugmann.
We at SFS are very proud of Pil and wish her the best of luck. We wish Pil all the best and success in her new role! The election of Pil as President of Eurodoc is proof of the important work she has done and continues to do for PhD students and young researchers.
