Theme: International higher education policy and why it matters 

Welcome to this year’s second digital member meeting! The digital member meetings are an opportunity for us to meet and discuss current issues between our physical meetings. You are welcome to participate with one or more representatives from your student union. It does not have to be the president.  The meeting will be held in English. 

 

Program 

This member meeting will be held by SFS international committee, Komit.

 

  • Presentation on Komit 

An introduction to the SFS International Committee and their work! Komit will talk about how they operate, current projects, the European Student Union (ESU), and the Nordic/Baltic collaboration, Nordiskt Ordförandemöte (NOM).

 

  • The EU and the Bologna Process – How does it affect us?

What is happening in European higher education policy, and how do decisions within the EU and the Bologna Process impact higher education in Sweden over time? During this session, we will explore how internationalisation issues matter for Swedish higher education institutions and students.

 

  • European Student Card Initiative

The European Student Card initiative is one of the EU’s initiatives aimed at creating a European Education Area by 2025. The initiative includes various elements, including the European Student Card, an add-on to existing student cards that confirms student status in EU member countries. The Swedish Council for Higher Education (UHR) is currently working on the implementation of this initiative in Sweden and is seeking feedback from student unions regarding the card. What has your student union’s experience been with the European Student Card? How do you view the possibility of implementing it at your institution? 

 

  • Open floor

This is an opportunity to raise issues relevant to your student union that you would like to discuss with other student unions. Please also feel free to highlight international matters, now that we have Komit with us!
