Yesterday, Iranian security forces surrounded Sharif University in Teheran, using deadly violence against students and staff. The Swedish National Union of Students, SFS, stands in solidarity with the people of Iran.

The student protest in Iran and the demonstrations against the regime started after Mahsa Jîna Amini was detained by the Iranian moral police and later died in custody on September 16th.

A targeted attack against students is an attack against all people in pursuit of freedom of expression and academic freedom. We call on the Iranian regime to stop the violence against protestors.

As part of the international student movement we are especially concerned for all the students, doctoral students, researchers and academic institutions of Iran.

We also call on the Swedish government to protect students who flee the country, by implementing a Students a risk program.
