Debate: Remaking the university's funding model

The higher education funding model needs to be fundamentally changed in order to be able to meet the societal challenges we are facing. That's what SFS writes presidium Linn Svärd and Jacob Färnert.

The five starting points we propose for a new investigation are:

  • Resource allocation needs to promote quality in higher education.
  • Promote an efficient use of resources.
  • Balance the allocation of resources between education and research.
  • Increase the university's opportunities to meet both short-term and long-term needs.
  • Influence over dimensioning and supply.
