Debate: Rethinking the university funding model

The financing model for higher education needs to be fundamentally overhauled to meet the societal challenges we face. This is what SFS writes presidium Linn Svärd and Jacob Färnert.

The five starting points we propose for a new investigation are:

  • Resource allocation needs to promote quality in higher education.
  • Promote efficient use of resources.
  • Balancing the allocation of resources between education and research.
  • Increase the university's ability to meet both short-term and long-term needs.
  • Influence over sizing and supply.
