The pain limit was soon reached - even for us students

The cry for help about the erosion of the university's resources is growing more and more frequent. Despite the fact that the university's costs increase for completely natural reasons, the state compensation is not included. This means that institutions and teachers are put under strong pressure at the same time as much-needed development work is often left behind.

Previously, the focus has been on the areas of the humanities and social sciences, which have the lowest remuneration per student. But the erosion is affecting everyone in the university. IN UNT on 28 June Representatives of science and technology, who had the largest percentage reduction, also say that the limit has been reached for them as well. All warnings from universities, teachers and students must not go unnoticed. However, reversing the university's huge resource deficit is not something that can be done in a jiffy. The government needs to present a long-term and credible plan for how society's investments in higher education should be able to increase sustainably in order to maintain and increase quality.

“Educating more people must not be done at the expense of quality. There must be room to see both needs, ”write the 17 principals and deans. We can only agree.
