Thank you for a magical celebration!

You, who are committed to students' conditions.
You, who choose to invest your time and energy in creating change in a democratic way.
You, who advocate for your peers, and who nurture the trust that it entails:
You are an asset to our country!

HRH Crown Princess Victoria

March 19 continues to be a historic day for the Swedish student movement; the day we were founded and the day we got to celebrate our first hundred years with students and our student unions. Representatives from our history as well as royalty and collaborators from organizations and politics were also present to celebrate one hundred years of the national student influence. We are overwhelmed that so many wanted to join and celebrate with us.

During the evening, it was clear how the movement missed the physical meeting and we can see in retrospect that the time was short. During the evening, we are pretty sure that we broke a new record in new acquaintances and booked talks between unions, politicians and previous generations of SFS members.

The Swedish National Union of Students was founded with the aim of bringing together the country's students for international solidarity and cooperation across national borders. We see these cornerstones, not least now, as important factors for freedom and a strong, independent academy. SFS is still a vital movement that at national and international level will never compromise our democratic principles. In the 100th anniversary gift from Minister of Education Anna Ekström, a promise was also made that the conditions for student influence will be in focus in 2023 when Sweden takes over the presidency of the EU. Our celebration became a light in the pitch-black Europe and our fervor became a common fire for our continued work for democracy and student conditions.

The Bureau, Linn Svärd and Oskar M Wiik, would like to thank in particular Crown Princess Victoria, Minister of Education Anna Ekström, Emily McPherson (Norwegian student organization), Jacob Blasius (Danish Student Council) and Konstantin Kouzmitchec (Suomen ylioppilaskuntien liitto) for your beautiful words to our members. Thank you conferences David Persson for all entertainment. Thanks The Pink Quartet for unforgettable stanzas. Thanks to our event coordinator Rasmus Persson who rowed the event into port with bravura.

And thank you. All memberships and students. Regardless of whether you celebrated on site on Saturday 19 March 2022, we celebrated and thanked you for 100 years of a motley, noisy and an absolutely wonderful first century.

With all our love and struggle,

Oskar M Wiik, Vice Chairman
Linn Svärd, chairman
